Join a supportive Level III NICU as a travel Registered Nurse (RN) in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and provide compassionate care to critically ill and premature newborns. This 13-week, on-site travel nursing assignment offers the opportunity to work in a 31-bed acute-care NICU with 1:1 or 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratios. Travel Nursing Job Details
- Assignment Type: 13-week travel Registered Nurse assignment
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130–$2,250
- Location: Fort Wayne, Indiana
- Start Date: November 2, 2026
- End Date: February 1, 2027
- Schedule: 36 hours per week on 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.; typically three shifts weekly
- Healthcare Setting: 31-bed Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
- Patient Assignment: 1:1 or 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Charting and Equipment: EPIC electronic health record (EHR) charting and Pyxis medication administration
- Orientation: Mandatory weekday orientation during the first two weeks, including seven required orientation days
- Additional Flexibility: May float to age-appropriate Pediatric or PICU assignments
- Dress Code: Caribbean blue scrubs
NICU Travel Nurse Job Requirements
- At least 2 years of recent Level III NICU Registered Nurse experience
- Current Indiana Registered Nurse (RN) license, or eligibility to obtain one
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Strong neonatal assessment, critical-thinking, and clinical decision-making skills
- Ability to work scheduled night shifts and participate fully in mandatory orientation
NICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to premature, critically ill, and medically complex neonates
- Monitor patient status, recognize changes in condition, and respond promptly to clinical needs
- Administer medications and treatments safely according to established protocols
- Use EPIC and Pyxis systems accurately for clinical documentation and medication management
- Collaborate with neonatologists, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team
- Support families through education, communication, and compassionate bedside care
- Maintain a safe, organized, and developmentally appropriate environment for NICU patients
- Float to age-appropriate Pediatric or PICU assignments when needed and within demonstrated competency
