Experienced ICU/PCU Registered Nurses are invited to join a high-acuity travel nursing contract in Odessa, Texas. Support a newly opened Progressive Care Unit with anticipated ICU-level patients in a universal-care setting serving telemetry, PCU, and critical care patients. This Texas travel nursing opportunity offers the chance to expand your clinical expertise across multiple acuity levels while enjoying the welcoming community, wide-open spaces, and outdoor recreation of West Texas.
ICU/PCU Travel RN Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,020–$2,130
- Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing contract
- Start Date: November 3, 2026
- End Date: February 2, 2027
- Schedule: Day shifts, 4 shifts per week
- Shift Duration: 12-hour shifts, 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.
- Healthcare Setting: ICU/PCU and telemetry universal-care unit
- Patient Population: Adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients
- Patient Ratios: Approximately 4:1 on the primary unit; critical care ratios may range from 2:1 to 3:1
- Electronic Medical Record: Cerner experience preferred
- Weekend Coverage: Required
- Location: Odessa, Texas
ICU/PCU Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Texas
- At least 1 year of professional Registered Nurse experience; ICU, PCU, progressive care, or high-acuity telemetry experience strongly preferred
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications
- Willingness to obtain TNCC or TCAR within 30 days of starting the assignment
- Experience with electronic medical records; Cerner experience preferred
- Demonstrated ability to provide critical care nursing for critically ill and medically complex patients
- Availability to begin no later than November 3, 2026
ICU/PCU Travel Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care for telemetry, PCU, and critical care patients in a flexible universal-care environment
- Monitor and manage patients with diagnoses including atrial fibrillation with rapid ventricular response, post-PCI recovery, TAVR, DKA, COPD and asthma exacerbations, renal failure, and high oxygen requirements
- Care for ventilated patients and manage BiPAP, CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, and other non-invasive airway therapies
- Interpret telemetry rhythms and arterial blood gases while recognizing and responding to changes in patient condition
- Manage arterial lines, central lines, PICC lines, chest tubes, tracheostomies, drains, ports, and other critical-care equipment
- Titrate cardiac, vasoactive, insulin, and other prescribed medication infusions according to established protocols
- Administer blood products, thrombolytic agents, and other medications safely and accurately
- Collaborate with respiratory therapy, radiology, pharmacy, rapid response teams, physical therapy, social services, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
- Float to critical care or medical-surgical/telemetry areas as needed based on census and unit requirements
- Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in Cerner
