This on-site travel RN opportunity is ideal for an adaptable critical care nurse who is confident caring for complex patients, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and supporting multiple units based on clinical need. You will work primarily night shifts while gaining experience across the intensive care unit (ICU), PCU/CCU, medical-surgical, rehabilitation, emergency department holding, and hospital-wide transport assignments within your clinical scope of practice.

- Position: Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – ICU / Nursing Float Pool
- Employment Type: Travel nursing contract
- Location: Puyallup, Washington; on-site
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,020–$2,130
- Start Date: November 2, 2026
- Contract End Date: January 30, 2027
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Schedule: 36 hours per week; 12-hour night shifts
- Clinical Environment: Level III trauma setting with assignments across ICU, PCU/CCU, medical-surgical, rehabilitation, ED holding, and ACLS transport
- Technology: EPIC electronic medical record, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing
- Orientation: Two days of hospital orientation and one day on the assigned unit
- Patient Ratios: ICU approximately 1:2 based on acuity; PCU/CCU approximately 1:4; medical-surgical approximately 1:5
ICU Travel Nurse Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in good standing and authorization to practice in Washington
- At least 2 years of recent ICU nursing experience; experience in PCU, acute care, or medical-surgical settings is valuable for float assignments
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications for ICU assignments
- Recent EPIC experience required
- Demonstrated telemetry competency and cardiac rhythm interpretation skills
- Proficiency with ventilator management, invasive line management, tracheostomy care, chest tubes, drains, ostomies, and IV medication administration
- Experience managing titratable medications such as amiodarone, diltiazem, nitroglycerin, dopamine, dobutamine, insulin, heparin, and, when needed, nicardipine
- Strong communication, organization, critical-thinking, and patient education skills
- Flexibility to float between units and care for patients within the RN’s competency and scope of practice
Travel Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care for critically ill and medically complex patients, including those with respiratory failure, gastrointestinal bleeding, diabetic ketoacidosis, sepsis, complicated postoperative conditions, stroke, post-arrest needs, and substance-use-related illness
- Perform comprehensive assessments, recognize changes in patient condition, and promptly escalate concerns to the appropriate clinical providers
- Manage cardiac monitoring, ventilators, invasive lines, drains, tracheostomies, chest tubes, and other critical care equipment
- Administer medications and titrate continuous infusions in accordance with orders, protocols, and patient response
- Deliver care across ICU, PCU/CCU, medical-surgical, rehabilitation, and ED holding areas as assigned
- Support a fast-paced ED holding environment with mixed diagnoses, isolation patients, and non-ambulatory patients
- Transport patients throughout the hospital, including to imaging, procedural, surgical, emergency, cardiac, and recovery areas when assigned to ACLS transport
- Collaborate with physicians, intensivists, hospitalists, respiratory therapists, nursing assistants, and other members of the care team
- Provide clear handoff communication, patient and family education, discharge support, and accurate documentation in EPIC
- Maintain professionalism, adaptability, and resourcefulness while working across diverse units and patient populations
