RN - Labor Delivery/Postpartum ● About Facility: o E. Grover St, Shelby NC 28150 o 241 licensed beds o Level 3 Trauma o Teaching Hospital? No o Certified Chest Pain Center o Stroke Center ● Unit Information: o Beds: 8 labor rooms, 3 triage rooms, 1 OR suite and 1 PACU ▪ 4 to 6 patients on average/day o Minimum Years of Experience required? 2 years in Labor and Delivery ability to work LDRP o Will you accept a first-time traveler? No ● Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: o Labor/Delivery/Postpartum/Newborn care ● Patient Ratios: o RN: Use AWHONN Staffing Guidelines ▪ 1:2 Inactive labor; 1:1 Active Labor; 1:3-4 Couplets o CST: 1 per shift ● Required Licensure Certifications: o BLS, ACLS, EFM, NRP ● Skills required: o Labor and Delivery Nurse skills - labor management, circulate cesarean sections, Pre-op, PACU, triage, resuscitation of newborns, Pitocin management, epidural management o Ability and willingness to work LDRP setting ● Support within the Department: o Charge nurse, 24/7 o Phlebotomy? Yes, for peripheral blood draws o IV/VAT Team? None o Resource Nurse? When available o RT 24/7? Yes, within hospital o Hospitalist 24/7? Yes, for newborn care o Telemetry monitoring/tech? Fetal Monitoring ● Technology/Equipment: o EMR: Epic o IV Pump: Alaris o Med dispensing: Omnicell o Monitors: Fetal Monitor, Philips Monitor for Newborn o Unit specific equipment: Scales, Ultrasound, Ambulation assist device ● Floating: o Within region and scope of practice o Will be required to float per region needs will require floating to all facilities listed below, as needed, within scope of practice DECLINE if not agreeable ▪ Region 3 - Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division (CMC Main + Mercy + LCH) ▪ If floating mid-shift, Traveler will be paid for the time traveling between facilities (will remain on the clock) ● Orientation (facility and unit) : o NEO o 2 days departmental ● Scheduling: o Weekend rotation: every other weekend o Call: Possibility of low census call. Can be called back up to 3a for Nights and up to 3p for Days o Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays o RTO: Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours o Shift times: 7a-7p and 7p-7a o Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks ● Other notes: o Scrub Color: Green, hospital issued o Parking: Free o Unit Culture: Teamwork
