RN - MedSurg/Tele JOB DESCRIPTION ● About Facility: E. Grover St, Shelby NC 28150 o 241 licensed beds Level 3 Trauma Teaching Hospital? No Certified Chest Pain Center Stroke Center Radius rule: Traveler’s permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit ● Unit Information: Beds: 32 ▪ Census? Average patients/day? 32 Minimum Years of Experience required? 18 months Med/Tele RN experience Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes ● Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: Stroke, Respiratory Illnesses: Flu/Pneumonia/COVID, Renal Failure, Peritoneal Dialysis, Wounds, etc. ● Patient Ratios: RN: 1:5-6; surge staffing could have ratios of 1:7-8 LPN (if applicable): 1:5-6; surge staffing could have ratios of 1:7-8 CNA: 1:10 ● Required Licensure Certifications: RN: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS ● Skills required: Basic Med/Tele skillset: Cardiac rhythm interpretation, experience with non-titrating Cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone), wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, Central line management, etc. ● Support within the Department: CNA - ADLs, mobility, feeding No HUC Charge nurse may or may not have patient assignment Phlebotomy? Yes IV/VAT Team? Yes RT, 24/7 Hospitalist, 24/7 Intensivist, 24/7 Telemetry monitoring/tech? Yes ● Technology/Equipment: EMR: Epic IV Pump: Yes Med dispensing: Yes Monitors: Yes Unit specific equipment: VNO (virtual nursing - 10 cameras) ▪ Virtual RNs can act as 2 nd RN Witness for certain meds, can closely monitor patients requiring special monitoring, can assist with Admission/Discharge items, etc. ● Floating: Within region and scope of practice Will be required to float per region needs will require floating to all facilities listed below, as needed, within scope of practice DECLINE if not agreeable ▪ Region 3 - Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division (CMC Main + Mercy + LCH) ▪ If floating mid-shift, Traveler will be paid for the time traveling between facilities (will remain on the clock) ● Orientation (facility and unit) : NEO o 2 days departmental Yes ● Scheduling: Weekend rotation: every other No call Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays Yes RTO: Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours Shift times: 0630-1900 and 1830-0700 Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks ● Other notes: Scrub Color: Navy Parking: Free?
