Description
Job Summary (Staff Registered Nurse - Digestive Health Center):
- Provides professional nursing care for a designated group of patients using the nursing process and institutional philosophy.
- Performs all unit-specific responsibilities and duties within the scope of service.
- Implements nursing procedures and theories relevant to the specific practice area.
- Maintains accurate, up-to-date documentation of nursing care for healthcare team integration.
- Completes initial patient assessments upon admission and develops individualized care plans based on patient and family needs.
- Implements and modifies care plans, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures based on ongoing evaluation.
- Ensures patient and employee safety by identifying, reporting, and correcting safety hazards/incidents.
- Communicates effectively with colleagues, resolving issues directly and privately when necessary.
- Provides constructive feedback to peers and collaborates to expand professional knowledge.
- Identifies own learning needs and proactively seeks solutions.
- Meets all departmental competency requirements.
- Prepares patients for procedures, including assessment, health history review, IV initiation, and education.
- Monitors and sedates patients during procedures.
- Cares for patients during both phase 1 and phase 2 recovery.
- Assists CRNA during procedures requiring anesthesia.
- Directs, supervises, and evaluates patient care, both directly and through delegation, using the nursing process.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of relevant nursing experience.
Education:
- Required: Associate’s degree in Nursing (ASN)
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN)
Licensure & Certifications:
- Illinois state RN license in good standing
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (American Heart Association)
Schedule:
- Days, Monday–Friday, 9-hour shifts, with a set day off
