Hand Therapist (OT) – [Travel or Local]
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Hand Therapist to join our team. This role specializes in the evaluation and treatment of conditions affecting the hand, wrist, elbow, and upper extremity. The ideal candidate will have experience in orthopedic rehabilitation and a passion for helping patients regain function, mobility, and independence.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and treat patients with upper extremity conditions including post-surgical cases, fractures, tendon injuries, nerve injuries, and chronic conditions
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on physician referrals and clinical findings
- Fabricate and fit custom orthoses/splints for various diagnoses
- Provide manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, and modalities to improve function and reduce pain
- Educate patients on injury prevention, home exercise programs, and recovery expectations
- Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with facility and regulatory standards
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed
Qualifications
- Licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) in the state of practice
- Certification as a Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) preferred (or eligibility/interest in obtaining)
- Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in hand therapy or outpatient orthopedic setting preferred
- Strong knowledge of upper extremity anatomy, biomechanics, and rehabilitation techniques
- Experience with splint fabrication highly preferred

- Excellent manual therapy and clinical reasoning skills
- Strong communication and patient education abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Experience in outpatient or clinic-based settings
Work Setting
- Outpatient clinic or hospital-based therapy department
- Patient population includes post-operative, orthopedic, and neurological upper extremity conditions
