Description
Start Date: March 2, 2026
Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour shifts (day or night available), 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule; Standard patient ratios of 1:6 on days, 1:7 on nights
Highlights:
- 44-bed General Surgery unit in a Magnet-designated, nationally recognized facility
- Diverse case mix including urology, bowel resections, PCA management, wound vacs, TPN, colostomies, urostomies, and drain management
- Telemetry-equipped unit using Cerner EMR
- Supporting a Level II trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, and regional referral hub
- Work alongside experienced surgical nursing teams in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
- 13-week assignment with potential for extension
Requirements:
- Active North Carolina RN license or ability to obtain via compact
- Current BLS certification
- Telemetry competency required
- Minimum 1-2 years of recent acute care experience in general surgery or medical-surgical nursing
- Experience managing multiple patients (6-7 per shift) and proficiency with tube feeds, PEG tubes, NG tubes, drains (JP, biliary, nephrostomy, urinary catheters), heparin drips, and IV antibiotics
- Urology and bowel surgery experience strongly preferred
