Description
Start Date: May 4, 2026
Location: Newark, New Jersey
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: Night shift, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, 12-week contract; every other weekend requirement; must work 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 holidays per unit needs
Highlights:
- Work in a premier 19-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit supporting critical care patients with variable acuity and stepdown capability
- Part of one of the largest pediatric critical care programs in New Jersey with 24/7 intensivist-led coverage
- Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:3 depending on acuity; Epic charting system utilized
- Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including respiratory services, pharmacy, physical therapy, and interpretation services
- Float within skillset to Pediatrics and NICU as needed for appropriate assignments
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travelers
Requirements:
- Active New Jersey or Compact RN license required at time of submission
- Minimum 2 years of PICU critical care experience required
- 1 year of cardiac experience strongly preferred and must be documented on skills checklist
- Current BLS and PALS certifications required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Previous travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
- Proficiency in IV therapy/phlebotomy, central line management, ventilator care, telemetry monitoring, administration of vasopressors and continuous sedation, pediatric dosage calculations, and management of critically ill pediatric patients
- Experience with chest tubes, tracheostomy care, BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and TPN/Lipids administration

Staff and management are very friendly. The ratios are pretty good. Sometimes it gets very busy and sometimes transport is put in by someone else before you even have the patient ready to go. They are very flexible with scheduling and their weekend requirements are reasonable.
