Description
Start Date: May 1, 2026
Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: Day or night shift available; 12-hour shifts; 6 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule period; no call required
Highlights:
- 40-bed cardiovascular progressive care stepdown unit specializing in cardiac surgery and vascular surgery patients
- 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio with comprehensive support staff including charge nurses, PCTs, and unit coordinators
- Diverse case mix including open heart surgery (CABG, valve replacements, TAVR), thoracic procedures, vascular interventions, and medical cardiology overflow
- Cerner EMR system; advanced equipment including Baxter IV pumps, CADD epidural pumps, and specialized lifts
- Magnet-designated facility recognized as one of America's 50 Best Hospitals and recipient of Leapfrog 'A' Hospital Safety Grade
- Opportunity to work at the region's only Level II trauma center and busiest robotic surgery program in the Carolinas
Requirements:
- Active RN license in North Carolina or compact state eligibility
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
- Stepdown and telemetry experience mandatory
- Prior cardiovascular surgery and vascular surgery experience strongly preferred (open heart, TAVR, thoracic procedures, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass)
- CVICU experience a plus
- Proficiency in epidural management, chest tube care, cardiac drip management, and tube feeding protocols
- Flexibility to float to other stepdown, medical-surgical, or ER inpatient holding areas as needed
