Description
Start Date: April 23, 2026
Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour shifts with rotating weekends; minimum 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period; no call required
Highlights:
- 40-bed cardiovascular stepdown unit specializing in cardiac surgery, vascular surgery, and complex medical cardiology patients
- Primary patient population includes open heart surgery (CABG, valve replacements, TAVR), thoracic procedures, and vascular surgeries
- 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio in a fast-paced, high-acuity progressive care environment
- Work in a Magnet-designated facility recognized as one of America's 50 Best Hospitals and awarded an 'A' Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade
- Cerner EMR system with advanced cardiac monitoring and IV pump technology
- Opportunity to work at the region's only Level II trauma center and comprehensive cardiovascular referral center
Requirements:
- Active North Carolina RN license or compact state license
- Minimum 1 year of recent stepdown and telemetry experience required
- ACLS and BLS certification required
- Prior cardiovascular surgery and vascular surgery population experience strongly preferred (open heart, TAVR, thoracic procedures, vascular interventions)
- CVICU experience preferred
- Experience with cardiac drip management, epidural management, chest tube care, and tube feedings preferred
- Must be flexible, team-oriented, and thrive in fast-paced clinical environments
