Job Opportunity – Labor & Delivery / Postpartum Nurse – North Carolina

Start Date: September 8, 2026

Location: Coastal North Carolina

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants (local rate differential applies for candidates within 50 miles)

Schedule: Night shift, 1845-0715; 13-week assignment with 48-hour or 36-hour weekly schedules available; every other weekend required; 2 mandatory call shifts per 6-week schedule

Highlights:

• 9-bed LDRP unit providing couplet care with approximately 800 births annually
• 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio for Mother/Baby couplet care
• EPIC charting system with Pyxis medication management
• Supportive, patient-centered care environment featuring birthing tubs, nitrous oxide, and baby-friendly protocols
• 32 hours of paid unit orientation with comprehensive onboarding support
• Float responsibilities limited to assisting other units without taking full patient assignments

Requirements:

• Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state license)
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Current certifications: BLS, AWHONN (any level), and NRP
• Demonstrated competency in LDRP, Mother/Baby care, external and internal fetal monitoring, sterile speculum exams, and recognition/treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Strong breastfeeding and lactation support skills
• Experience with high-risk deliveries, postpartum hemorrhage protocols, and magnesium sulfate administration
• EPIC experience strongly preferred
• Willingness to float within the facility as needed
