Description
Start Date: September 14, 2026
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour shifts (7:00am-7:30pm or 7:00pm-7:30am), Monday through Friday with 2-3 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling period. Patient ratios 1:3. Float coverage required for patients less than 12 months of age across pediatric units.
Highlights:
- 26-bed Level IV NICU within a Magnet-designated comprehensive children's hospital
- Care for high-acuity neonates requiring advanced medical and surgical interventions, including post-operative cardiac, abdominal, and neurological cases
- Experience with complex ventilation modes (invasive/noninvasive, including NAVA), trach/vent management, g-tubes, and therapeutic hypothermia
- Epic charting system with 24 hours of orientation provided
- Interdisciplinary team support including IV teams, respiratory services, physical therapy, and pharmacy
- Model patient- and family-centered care environment designed for healing and comfort
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years total NICU III/IV experience, with at least 1 full year in a Level IV NICU setting
- Active RN license (Wisconsin or compact state)
- BLS and NRP certifications required (AHA only); PALS preferred
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Proficiency with Epic charting system
- Skills required include central line management, arterial line management, ventilator management, high-frequency ventilation, administration of IV vasopressors, neonatal dosage calculations, and care of post-surgical neonates
- Must pass telemetry competency exam with strict passing criteria (80% minimum, 100% on lethal rhythms)
- Must reside 50+ miles from the facility (local candidates not eligible)
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
