# Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse / Cardiovascular Progressive Care – Western North Carolina**Start Date:** August 24, 2026 **Location:** Western North Carolina **Compensation:** Details provided to qualified applicants **Schedule:** 12-hour shifts, minimum 6 weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday) per 6-week schedule period, no on-call required. Patient ratio 1:5**Highlights:** - 40-bed cardiovascular stepdown unit specializing in CV surgery and vascular surgery post-operative care- Patient population includes open heart surgery (CABG, AVR, MVR, TAVR), thoracic surgery, vascular procedures (AAA repair, fem-pop bypass, carotid endarterectomies), and medical cardiology overflow- Cerner EMR system with Baxter IV pumps and epidural management capabilities- Supportive team environment with approximately 100 nursing staff members across day and night shifts- Advanced cardiac drip management including vasoactive medications, cardiac monitoring, chest tube management, and tube feeding protocols- Comprehensive orientation to cardiovascular progressive care environment with opportunity for professional growth in cardiac specialty nursing**Requirements:** - Active RN license in good standing- Current ACLS and BLS certifications required- Stepdown and telemetry monitoring experience required (non-negotiable)- Cardiovascular surgery and vascular surgery patient care experience within the past year strongly preferred- CVICU experience preferred- Flexibility to float to other stepdown or medical-surgical units as needed- Professional demeanor with navy, white, or navy/white combination scrubs**Why It's a Great Opportunity:** This position offers an exceptional opportunity to work with a complex cardiovascular patient population in a fast-paced, collaborative progressive care environment.
