Job Opportunity – Critical Care Registered Nurse – Wisconsin

Start Date: October 26, 2026

Location: Wisconsin

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Evening/Night shifts, 8 or 12-hour shifts (1900-0730), every other weekend and some holidays. Four 12-hour shifts per week available based on traveler preference. Block scheduling available to accommodate time-off requests.

  • Opportunity to work in multiple ICU specialties including Neuro ICU, Cardiovascular/Cardiothoracic ICU, Burn ICU, Trauma ICU, Medical-Surgical ICU, and Progressive/Intermediate Care units
  • Academic learning environment with autonomy and flexibility across critical care settings
  • Epic charting system with 28 hours of orientation provided
  • 3:1 patient ratio for both day and night shifts
  • Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and phlebotomy

Requirements:

  • Active Wisconsin RN license or Compact state license
  • Minimum 5 years of RN experience with at least 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in critical care specialty
  • Level 1 Trauma Center experience required
  • Previous travel nursing experience required
  • BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association only)
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • Must pass telemetry examination prior to start date with strict passing criteria (80% minimum score; 100% accuracy on lethal rhythms)
  • Competency in multiple ICU specialties including experience with ventilated patients, advanced cardiac care, hemodynamic monitoring, and critical care procedures
  • Basic arrhythmia interpretation skills required
  • Charge nurse experience preferred
  • Additional certifications preferred: NIHSS, TNCC

Clinical Skills Required:

  • Advanced critical care skills including arterial line management, central line care, ventilator management, and hemodynamic monitoring
  • Experience with CRRT/CVVHD, blood product administration, and titration of vasoactive and cardiac drips
  • Competency with high-acuity equipment and procedures including BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, and procedural sedation
  • Management of patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
  • Experience with specialty populations: post-cardiac surgery, traumatic brain injury, CVA/stroke, and burn care
  • Preferred experience with ECMO, IABP, Impella, external ventricular drains, and ICP monitoring

  • Floating required to various critical care units as needed
  • Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
  • COVID-19 vaccination not required
  • Local candidates (within 50 miles) not accepted
  • Parking permit required if parking onsite; alternative transportation options available
