Description
Start Date: September 14, 2026
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour shifts between 7:00am-11:30pm, Day/Evening rotation with every other weekend and some holidays. Four 12-hour shifts per week available.

- Work in a 24-bed Trauma and Life Support ICU at a Magnet-designated, Level One Trauma Center ranked #1 in Wisconsin
- 2:1 patient ratio providing comprehensive care to critically ill medical, surgical, and trauma patients across all age groups
- Epic charting system with advanced life support therapies including ECMO and continuous dialysis
- Recently awarded the American Association of Critical Care Nurses Gold Level Beacon Award in 2024, the highest honor achievable
- Participate in cutting-edge, evidence-based therapies and research studies at an academic medical center
- Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including respiratory services, pharmacy, physical therapy, radiology, and social services
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience in Medical, Surgical, and Trauma ICU settings required
- Wisconsin RN license or valid Compact RN license
- BLS and ACLS certification (American Heart Association only)
- Epic charting experience required
- Level I Trauma experience required
- Must pass telemetry competency exam prior to start (100% accuracy on lethal rhythms and third-degree heart blocks, 80% overall passing score)
- Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions available)
- Must reside 50 miles or more from the facility
Clinical Skills and Competencies:
- Ventilator management and care of ventilated patients
- Arterial line management, central line care, and PICC line management
- BiPAP/CPAP and High Flow Nasal Cannula management
- Blood product administration and IV insulin protocols
- Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and arterial blood gases
- Experience with patient diagnoses including ARDS, ECMO, respiratory failure, sepsis, GI bleeds, post-operative management, liver transplant, vascular surgery, and trauma
- Advanced procedures including continuous IV sedation, neuromuscular blockade, ICP monitoring, external ventricular drains, and pulmonary artery line monitoring
