Description
Start Date: November 9, 2026
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 8-hour shifts with rotating start times between 6:30am and 10:30am. Day and evening coverage. Weeknight call required. May need to stay past scheduled shift to complete the day's procedures. Daily census of 20-25 patients across 4 procedure rooms.
Highlights:
- Perform moderate sedation for GI and pulmonary procedures including ERCP, EUS, EGD, Colonoscopy, Endoscopy, and Bronchoscopy
- Provide pre-procedure, intra-procedure, and post-procedure care including PACU Phase I and Phase II recovery
- Utilize RN-driven assessment approach to sedation with Ramsay Sedation Scale scoring
- Work in a Magnet-designated, Level 1 Trauma Center environment recognized as a leading academic medical institution
- Epic EMR system utilized facility-wide
- Care for adult and geriatric patient populations with high acuity cases
Requirements:
- Active Wisconsin RN license or compact state license (pending Wisconsin license accepted with submission)
- Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience required
- Level 1 Trauma Center or similar academic medical center experience required
- Recent experience recovering sedated GI and pulmonary procedure patients (some general anesthesia cases)
- Proficiency in administering and monitoring moderate sedation (Propofol, Versed, opioid analgesics, reversal agents)
- Epic charting system experience required
- Current AHA ACLS and BLS certifications required
- Must pass facility telemetry examination prior to start (strict passing criteria with 100% identification of lethal rhythms required)
- Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
- Travel nursing experience preferred
- Strong skills in airway management, IV therapy, dysrhythmia interpretation, and 12-lead EKG
- Willingness to float as needed and perform bedside procedures in ICU, ED, and other units
