Description
Start Date: November 9, 2026
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: Day or Night shifts available. 8-hour or 12-hour shifts (0700-1930 or 1900-0730). Every other weekend required. Some holiday coverage. Flexible scheduling options include 4x12s or Friday-Sunday blocks. 2:1 patient ratio. 18-bed unit.

- Work in an 18-bed Neuroscience ICU at a Magnet-designated, Comprehensive Stroke Center ranked #1 in Wisconsin
- Specialized neuro critical care including stroke, subarachnoid hemorrhage, traumatic brain injury, post-neurosurgery, and spinal cord injury patients
- Epic EMR system with advanced monitoring technology including EVD, lumbar drains, and CereLink monitors
- Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including PT, respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and more
- Strong collaborative culture with nationally certified physicians and supportive nursing leadership
- Travel assignment at a leading academic medical center and nationally recognized referral center
Requirements:
- Active Wisconsin or Compact RN license
- BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA only)
- Minimum 2 years of acute care ICU experience within the last 3 years
- ICU experience required; neurosurgery experience strongly preferred
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Epic charting system experience required
- Experience with ICP monitoring or ventricular drain management required
- Basic arrhythmia experience and ability to pass telemetry competency exam prior to start
- Willingness to work with both ICU and Intermediate Care patient populations
- Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
- Must reside more than 50 miles from facility
Essential Skills:
- Ventilator management and care of ventilated patients
- Hemodynamic monitoring including arterial lines, central lines, and FloTrac/Vigileo
- External ventricular drain (EVD) and lumbar drain management
- ICP monitoring and post-craniotomy care
- Management of continuous IV sedation, paralytics, and neuromuscular blockade
- Titration of vasoactive and cardiac drips
- CVA/acute stroke management and traumatic brain injury care
- Blood product administration and interpretation of ABGs
- Arrhythmia interpretation and management
- BiPAP/CPAP and High Flow Nasal Cannula management
