Job Opportunity – Respiratory Therapist (NICU/PICU/Adult) – North Dakota

Start Date: October 26, 2026

Location: North Dakota

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour rotating day/night shifts with 8-hour shift options available. Every other weekend and rotating holidays. Flexible scheduling includes weekend-only or straight night status options. Opportunity to pick up additional shifts.

Highlights:

  • Join a collaborative respiratory therapy team at a Level I Trauma Center with 394+ beds including a 40-bed Level IV NICU, 8-bed PICU, 48-bed Adult ICU, and comprehensive family birth center
  • Work with advanced equipment including Hamilton ventilators, high-frequency ventilation (Jet & HFOV), nitric oxide delivery systems, and Epic documentation
  • Diverse case mix spanning high-risk deliveries, micro preemies (gestational ages 22+ weeks), pediatric critical care, and adult intensive care
  • Never work alone – each shift includes a designated charge therapist plus 6-14 respiratory therapists providing comprehensive support
  • Structured orientation program with dedicated RT education staff and experienced preceptors
  • Contract length and additional campus training opportunities available based on interest and facility needs

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years recent respiratory therapist experience with NICU and/or PICU patient populations; adult experience beneficial
  • Level IV NICU experience required, including high-frequency ventilation (Jet & HFOV), nitric oxide administration, high-risk deliveries, and ventilator management for micro preemies and gestational ages 22 weeks and above
  • RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) via NBRC required; CRT considered
  • BLS (AHA) certification required
  • NRP and PALS (AHA) certifications required
  • ACLS preferred
  • North Dakota state license required or willingness to apply within 72 hours of offer acceptance

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct respiratory therapy assessments and implement evidence-based protocols for patients with cardiopulmonary disorders
  • Manage ventilator and non-invasive ventilation therapy across neonatal, pediatric, and adult populations
  • Perform arterial punctures and blood gas analysis, medication delivery, and airway clearance techniques
  • Assist with intubations, tracheostomy changes and decannulation, extubations, and emergency response teams
  • Participate in ICU rounds, patient intrahospital transport, and high-risk deliveries
  • Utilize advanced equipment including Bunnell HFJV, Hamilton ventilators, Infant Flow SiPAP, Bubble CPAP, and home ventilators
