Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,910 – $2,010
• Position: Travel Pediatric Psychiatric RN / Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN)
• Setting: Pediatric Inpatient Psychiatry – Epstein 2 Unit (behavioral health, mental health nursing)
• Location: Salem, MA 01970 (North Shore, Massachusetts nursing jobs)
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks (May 3, 2026 – August 1, 2026)
• Shift: 12 Hour Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), 36 hours/week, every other weekend
• Bed Count: 30; Average Census: 20–25
• Clinician to Patient Ratio: 1:3
• EMR: EPIC
• Free On-Site Parking

Job Requirements

• Active Massachusetts RN License required
• Minimum 2 years of psychiatric nursing experience at one location/hospital (pediatric psychiatric nursing preferred)
• Experience in behavioral health, mental health nursing, or pediatric inpatient psychiatry
• Trauma-informed, patient-centered care skills
• Strong verbal de-escalation and crisis intervention abilities
• Willingness to float to other behavioral health areas as needed
• Required onboarding documentation (health history, TB test, health statement, background checks, references, resume, skills checklist, license verification, etc.)

Responsibilities

• Deliver 24-hour nursing care to pediatric patients ages 4–18 in an inpatient psychiatric setting
• Promote a nurturing, non-coercive environment for children and adolescents using trauma-informed approaches
• Use verbal de-escalation techniques and behavioral interventions to manage patient behaviors
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (psychiatrists, therapists, social workers) to support individualized treatment plans
• Document patient care, assessments, and progress accurately using EPIC EMR
• Float to other behavioral health units as required to support unit staffing and patient care
