- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,030 – $2,190 (competitive travel surgical tech pay)
- Employment Type: Travel Contract — Travel Surgical Tech / Traveling Surgical Technologist
- Setting: Hospital – CVOR (Cardiovascular Operating Room)
- Shift Duration: 10 Hour Days
- Shifts: Day/Evening rotating shifts – 2x8s and 2x12s (06:30-14:30 / 14:30-22:30 and 06:30-18:30 / 10:30-22:30); shift rotation required
- Hours per Week: 40
- Call Requirements: 2-4 weeknight calls and 1-2 weekend calls per 4-week schedule (no call shift longer than 12 hours)
- Flu Vaccination: Required (no exemptions)
Job Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of recent CVOR Tech experience (cardiac surgical tech / scrub tech experience required)
- Previous travel experience required (travel surgical tech experience preferred)
- Experience as a Cardiac Scrub Tech — comfortable with complex adult cardiac, thoracic, and vascular cases
- BLSSkills certification required
- Michigan Surgical Tech license (must be in hand at submission)
- Experience with Censitrac SPD instrument tracking required
- Two manager/supervisor references required
- Flu vaccination required (no exemptions)
Key Responsibilities
- Scrub for a wide range of adult cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgeries including heart transplants, LVAD/RVAD, CABG, ECMO, and aortic aneurysm repair
- Assist in thoracic procedures such as VATS, lobectomy, and esophagectomy, and vascular surgeries including carotid endarterectomy and bypass procedures
- Maintain strict aseptic technique and ensure proper handling, sterilization verification, and tracking of surgical instruments and equipment
- Utilize Censitrac SPD instrument tracking processes during case setup and turnover
- Participate in a flexible call schedule with no single call shift exceeding 12 hours
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, perfusionists, anesthesiologists, nurses, and the multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care
- Document procedures and maintain accurate records according to hospital protocols
- Participate in orientation and ongoing training as required for CVOR and travel assignments
