• Setting: 30-bed Adult Inpatient Psychiatric Unit (Epstein 4)
• Contract Length: 13 weeks (5/31/2026 – 8/29/2026)
• Weekly Hours: 36 hours guaranteed
• Shifts: 12-hour rotating shifts (Days/Evenings/Nights), every other weekend required
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,910 – $2,010
• Type: Travel Contract – Travel nurse / Psychiatric RN

Job Requirements

• Active Massachusetts RN license (required for psychiatric nursing in MA)
• American Heart Association BLS certification
• Minimum 2 years of recent inpatient adult psychiatric nursing experience (behavioral health RN, inpatient psychiatric nurse)
• Proficiency with automatic medication dispensing systems (Omni Cell)
• Experience administering and monitoring psychotropic medications and recognizing side effects
• Competency in IV pumps, wound care, diabetic care, and CPAPs
• Ability to assume charge nurse responsibilities
• Knowledge of Massachusetts Department of Mental Health rules and regulations
• Familiarity with patient rights, restraint/seclusion protocols, and legal statuses (guardianship, healthcare proxy, court-ordered medication)
• EPIC EMR experience preferred (electronic medical record experience valued)

Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to adults (ages 18–65) with a range of psychiatric diagnoses, including dual diagnosis and medically acute patients
• Administer medications, monitor for side effects, and maintain safe medication practices using Omni Cell
• Complete admissions, discharges, and detailed psychiatric nursing assessments
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Provide education and support to patients and their families on diagnoses, medications, and discharge planning
• Maintain accurate documentation using EPIC and comply with documentation standards for mental health nursing
• Float to other units as required (flexibility valued in travel nursing roles)
• Participate in ongoing training, including AVADE and EKG lead training
