Pediatric PACU Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel contract in Madison, WI at a nationally recognized pediatric hospital. Join our pediatric nursing team as a Travel RN providing specialized post-anesthesia care for children in a nationally recognized pediatric facility.

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1910 - $2010
• Location: Madison, WI 53792 — Wisconsin nursing jobs; Madison healthcare
• Facility: Magnet-designated pediatric hospital
• Contract Duration: 17 weeks (May 18, 2026 – September 14, 2026)
• Shift: Day shifts, 3x12-hour (07:30 – 20:00); Monday–Friday only; hours between 7:30am–11:00pm with on-call responsibility
• Employment Type: Travel RN / Pediatric PACU nurse

Job Requirements & Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years of pediatric PACU experience required (Pediatric Registered Nurse, PACU nurse)
• Experience with Epic electronic medical record (Epic EMR / Epic charting) required
• WI RN license or compact RN license (must be in hand at submittal)
• Current BLS and PALS certifications (AHA only)
• Previous Travel RN experience required; pediatric travel RN experience preferred
• Experience in a Trauma Level I pediatric environment required
• Must pass telemetry competency exam prior to start (two attempts allowed; see details below)
• Previous charge or leadership experience in PACU preferred

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive pre- and post-operative care for pediatric patients in the PACU (post-anesthesia care)
• Assess and manage airway, central lines, chest tubes, and ventilated pediatric patients
• Administer blood products, emergency medications, sedation reversal agents, and pediatric pain management protocols
• Monitor and interpret telemetry and cardiac rhythms; respond to pediatric cardiac and respiratory emergencies
• Deliver clear discharge instructions and coordinate safe transitions of care with multidisciplinary teams (anesthesia, surgery, pediatrics, social work)
• Float to other pediatric units as needed based on staffing and patient acuity
• Participate in on-call rotations (weeknights, weekends, holidays as required)

Telemetry Competency Exam Requirement: All travelers must pass a telemetry exam prior to start (two attempts allowed). Pediatric exam includes identification and interpretation of ventricular fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, asystole, and sinus bradycardia with a passing score of 80% or higher. This ensures telemetry proficiency for PACU and critical pediatric patient monitoring.
