Job Opportunity: RN Labor and Delivery (Travel)
Location: Carmel, Indiana
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide direct nursing care following established policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Implement and monitor patient care plans.
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition appropriately.
- Serve as primary coordinator for all disciplines to ensure well-coordinated patient care.
- Follow physician and nursing orders.
- Assess and coordinate patient discharge planning with the healthcare team.

Required Certifications & Licenses

- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - AHA/American Academy of Pediatrics
- NRP Advanced (AHA/American Academy of Pediatrics Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Valid nursing license with primary source verification within 30 days prior to start
- Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start
Required Vaccinations & Health Requirements
- Proof of two MMR vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted; if negative, two doses of MMR vaccine four weeks apart)
- Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination
- Influenza vaccine (seasonal; exemptions accepted with mask requirement)
- Two doses of Varicella vaccine or serological evidence of immunity (no declinations accepted)
- Tdap vaccine (valid for 10 years; no declinations accepted)
- Positive IGRA or PPD results, chest X-ray within one year showing no infection, and annual TB questionnaire
- 2-Step PPD or IGRA within specified timeframes prior to start
- Health statement or completed physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
- Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days prior to start, updated annually
- Color vision test completed prior to start and updated every 3 years
Additional Requirements
- Fit Test for respiratory protection (preferred prior to start; onsite completion possible)
- Pharmacology exam (minimum 80% score, updated every 3 years)
- Specialty exam demonstrating competency in labor and delivery (minimum 80% score, updated every 3 years)
- Core competencies including HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA topics (minimum 80% score, updated yearly)
- Fetal monitoring certification (AWHONN, Relias, or equivalent within past 2 years if not covered on competency exam)
- Skills checklist completed within one year of start and updated annually
- Criminal background check, EPLS, education verification, employment verification, and other professional verifications as required by the facility
- Ascension onboarding requirements and attestations
Notes
- Driver’s license/state ID must be current and meet compact license address requirements.
- Resume/profile and at least two professional references required prior to assignment.
- Post-assignment evaluations and other documentation may be required.
- Some optional checklists and documents may be requested during onboarding.
This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs who meet the certification and vaccination requirements and are interested in a travel assignment in Indiana.
