Registered Nurse (RN) – Coronary Care ICU (T4)

Location: Phoenix, Arizona
Contract Length: 13 weeks (minimum)
Shift: Nights
Hours: 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week

Unit & Patient Care Details

• Unit: CTICU/CVICU, 24 beds
• Patient Ratios: 1:1 to 1:2 in ICU; 4:1 on Telemetry units
• High acuity cardiac surgery recovery patients including IABP, CABG, ECMO, lung transplant, thoracic surgeries (esophagectomy, lobectomy, pneumonectomy), TAVR, CRRT, and Empallas
• Float required to other ICUs, Telemetry units, and Westgate campus as needed; travelers float before permanent staff
• Charge Nurse role available with no patient assignment
• Nurse aides support: 2 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) on days and nights during high census
• Common procedures: bronchoscopy, Swan-Ganz catheter insertion, epidurals, bedside procedures
• Hospitalist/Intensivist coverage: Intensivist on-site during day, on-call at night
• Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy available 24/7, including transplant patient support
• IV team not available; strong IV skills required

Orientation & Training

• 2-day floor-specific orientation
• Day 1 pass/fail SIMs Lab for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes (exceptions for some units)
• Additional education on lifts, restraints, and wound care policies
• Weekly orientations on Mondays (except holiday weeks)
• Pass/fail dysrhythmia exam required 24-48 hours prior to acceptance; maximum 2 attempts allowed
• Day 1 pass/fail exam during orientation
• Must pass all onboarding requirements by Wednesday 1pm CST before start date or start will be delayed

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Arizona
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year
• Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
• One completed travel assignment
• ACLS certification
• BLS certification
• Experience with Cerner EMR system
• Emergency Department (ED) experience

Appearance & Conduct Requirements

• No facial piercings allowed
• Natural hair colors only (no unnatural colors)
• Male candidates must be clean-shaven for fit testing

Additional Notes

• Travelers must have their own vehicle if part of a travel team
• Parking assigned with shuttle service to facility; night shift parking in garage
• Facility is a teaching hospital; nursing students may be present
• Weekend requirement: 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule (12-hour shifts)
• Holidays worked as part of rotation
• Scrub color: Navy
• Telemetry monitoring system: Phillips
