Registered Nurse - Emergency Department
Location: Utica, New York
Shift: 12-hour Evening (10:30 AM - 11:00 PM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 36
Job Description
- Work in a 64-bed Emergency Department unit including triage, acute care, super track, trauma, CDU, and psychiatric beds.
- Patient population includes newborns, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics.
- Common diagnoses: Stroke, Sepsis, Trauma, Myocardial Infarction, Cardiac Arrest, Respiratory Failure.
- Use specialty equipment such as Rapid Infusor and Arctic Sun.
- Administer required drips and medications including pressors (Levophed, Neo, Epi, Vasopressin, Dobutamine, Dopamine), vasodilators (Cleviprex, Cardene, NTG), anti-arrhythmics (Cardizem, Amiodarone, Lidocaine), sedation agents (Precedex, Propofol, Fentanyl), TNK, Heparin, and Insulin.
- Floating to other units is required.
- Charge nurse capability is highly preferred.
- EMR experience required: EPIC.
- Scrub color: Navy Blue.
- Block scheduling is not guaranteed.
Required Qualifications
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
- Valid RN license in New York.
- Emergency Department experience with a minimum of 2 years of experience.
- Emergency Department experience within the last year.
- One completed travel assignment.
- Current AHA ACLS certification.
- Current AHA BLS certification.
- Current AHA PALS certification.
- NIHSS.
- TNCC.
- Driver's License.
- Experience managing pressors (Levophed, Neo, Epi, Vasopressin, Dobutamine, Dopamine).
- Experience managing vasodilators (Cleviprex, Cardene, NTG).
- Experience managing anti-arrhythmic medications (Cardizem, Amiodarone, Lido).
- Experience managing sedation medications (Precedex, Propofol, Fentanyl).
- Pediatrics experience.
- Experience with Epic.
