Registered Nurse - Emergency Department

Location: Utica, New York
Shift: 12-hour Evening (10:30 AM - 11:00 PM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 36


Job Description

  • Work in a 64-bed Emergency Department unit including triage, acute care, super track, trauma, CDU, and psychiatric beds.
  • Patient population includes newborns, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics.
  • Common diagnoses: Stroke, Sepsis, Trauma, Myocardial Infarction, Cardiac Arrest, Respiratory Failure.
  • Use specialty equipment such as Rapid Infusor and Arctic Sun.
  • Administer required drips and medications including pressors (Levophed, Neo, Epi, Vasopressin, Dobutamine, Dopamine), vasodilators (Cleviprex, Cardene, NTG), anti-arrhythmics (Cardizem, Amiodarone, Lidocaine), sedation agents (Precedex, Propofol, Fentanyl), TNK, Heparin, and Insulin.
  • Floating to other units is required.
  • Charge nurse capability is highly preferred.
  • EMR experience required: EPIC.
  • Scrub color: Navy Blue.
  • Block scheduling is not guaranteed.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
  • Valid RN license in New York.
  • Emergency Department experience with a minimum of 2 years of experience.
  • Emergency Department experience within the last year.
  • One completed travel assignment.
  • Current AHA ACLS certification.
  • Current AHA BLS certification.
  • Current AHA PALS certification.
  • NIHSS.
  • TNCC.
  • Driver's License.
  • Experience managing pressors (Levophed, Neo, Epi, Vasopressin, Dobutamine, Dopamine).
  • Experience managing vasodilators (Cleviprex, Cardene, NTG).
  • Experience managing anti-arrhythmic medications (Cardizem, Amiodarone, Lido).
  • Experience managing sedation medications (Precedex, Propofol, Fentanyl).
  • Pediatrics experience.
  • Experience with Epic.

  • Submission must include RTO (Return to Office) information at time of application.
