Cardiac Cath Lab RN - Phoenix, Arizona
Job Overview
- Position: Registered Nurse (RN) in Cardiac Cath Lab
- Location: Phoenix, AZ
- Shift: Days
- Hours: 12-hour shifts (6:00 AM – 6:30 PM), 3 shifts per week (36 hours total)
- Call: 6 to 10 shifts per schedule with a 30-minute response time
- Contract Length: 13 weeks minimum
Unit & Work Environment
- Unit: Cardiac Cath Lab with 3 main beds, including 1 Electrophysiology (EP) and 1 Hybrid bed (vascular & cardiac cases)
- Cases per day: 10-25 (interventional cardiology, EP lab, peripherals, mitral clip, TAVR, IABP, and Emtala placement)
- Facility is a teaching hospital; nurses may have nursing students assigned
- EMR systems used: Cerner and Xper
- Equipment: Phillips telemetry and Siemens equipment
- Charge nurse present
- Nurse aides are radiology techs (BLS certified) covering Endoscopy and CVOR
- Weekend requirement: 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule; holidays worked on rotation
- Floor-specific orientation: 2 days on the job
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Arizona RN license required
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Prophecy Dysrhythmia Exam required 24-48 hours prior to position acceptance (max 2 attempts, passing score 80%)
- Must pass a Day 1 pass/fail simulation lab exam (includes Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes)
- Competency in sterile field maintenance is mandatory
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Arizona
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of Cardiac Cath Lab experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
- Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience
- Neuro ICU nursing experience
- Proficiency with Cerner EMR system
- BLS and ACLS certifications
- Valid Driver's License
Additional Requirements & Notes
- No facial piercings and only natural hair colors allowed
- Candidates cannot hold multiple contracts simultaneously with this employer
- Must have been off permanent staff status with this employer for 12 months before being considered for travel assignment
- Own vehicle required for travel teams (not applicable for Cath Lab tech/RN teams)
- Parking assigned with shuttle service to facility; night shift parking in garage
- 50-mile radius rule applies; no local rates
- SIMs Lab includes lifts, restraints, and wound care education (non-pass/fail)
- RN roles circulate in Cath Lab; techs must be able to scrub (tech license and certifications differ)
- Call shifts require 30-minute response time
