Description

PACU Nurse (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit) – Contract in Hilo, Hawaii

Job Summary

  • Provide care for patients pre-op, and during Phase I and Phase II recovery after surgery.
  • Utilize advanced knowledge of anesthesiology and critical care skills to monitor incision sites, body temperature, and other indicators of patient stability or complications.
  • Work in Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and Ambulatory Surgery Unit (ASU) settings.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Hawaii.
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) experience, including experience within the last year.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Experience in Emergency Department (ED) and/or Intensive Care Unit (ICU) settings.

Schedule and Shift Details

  • Shifts vary between 8, 10, and 12 hours.
  • Work hours may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • No guarantee of specific hours or shift preference.
  • On-call shifts required 0-3 times per month, including 8-hour night shifts and 24-hour weekend/holiday coverage.

  • Braun IV Pumps
  • Cryocuff
  • Sequential Compression Devices (SCDs)
  • Bair PAWS Warmers
  • HP and Phillips patient monitors

Additional Information

  • Must arrive the Thursday before the start date for employee health appointment on Friday.
  • Candidate must have an active Hawaii RN license by assignment start.
  • Contract length: approximately 13 weeks.
