ICU Registered Nurse
Overview
- Travel assignment in Redding, California
- 13-week contract
- Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend required
Required Qualifications
- Active California RN license
- BLS and ACLS
- 2+ years of ICU experience
- Experience with ICP monitoring and ventricles
- Trauma experience
- Ability to interpret telemetry strips
- Must be able to titrate vasopressors and sedation drips
Preferred
- PALS
- Prior travel experience
Work Setting
- ICU / Trauma ICU
- 30-bed unit
- Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:1 to 1:2
- Intensivist available 24/7
- Respiratory therapy assigned to the ICU 24/7
- One unit tech supports the unit
- Charge nurse and house supervisor are on duty 24/7
Scheduling and Assignment Details
- Self-scheduling may be available, pending manager review
- Block scheduling is not available
- Schedules are made about 6 weeks in advance
- Travelers are first to be moved if needed
- No call or standby requirement for travelers
- Floating may include PCU, CICU, telemetry, or med-surg units
- One-day unit orientation provided, with more if needed

- Fast-paced unit
- Must be comfortable asking questions and seeking help when needed
- Navy scrubs required
