Overview
- Location: Centennial, Colorado

Required Qualifications
- Active RN license
- 2 years of PCU/IMC experience
- BLS
- ACLS
- NIHSS
- Must be comfortable titrating and managing cardiac drips, insulin, ativan, and heparin
Clinical Setting
- Adult and geriatric patient population
- Float pool covering multiple PCU/IMC units
- May float to ICU for low-acuity holds, PCU/Stepdown, and MS-Tele
- Common patient types include cardiac, neuro, ortho, oncology, renal, urology post-surgical, general surgery post-appendectomy, gynecology, psych/detox, ENT, and general medicine
Scheduling and Float Expectations
- Schedule is made by leadership in 6-week blocks
- Travelers are expected to be flexible and help fill gaps in permanent scheduling
- 6–9 weekend shifts are required in each 6-week schedule
- May be asked to participate in holiday rotation
- Call or standby is rare and only for low census
- Travelers must float throughout a 60-mile zone
- Housing must make it feasible to cover the full 60-mile float zone
- Must be in state for the week of orientation
- Must submit time-off requests before starting the assignment
- No more than 3 missed shifts are allowed during the 13-week contract
- A 2-week notice is required to avoid a back-out penalty fee
Orientation and Assignment Details
- Unit orientation is 1–2 days with a preceptor
- First float assignment is communicated on or before the Monday start date
- Assignments may be scheduled at a single facility for the week or assigned 1–2 hours before shift start
Additional Notes
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3–4 depending on acuity
- Charge nurse is designated on each unit and usually does not take an assignment unless necessary
- Nurse aides are available
- RT equipment is available
- Any scrub color is allowed
