Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Arizona
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- ACLS
- BLS
- Med Surg / Telemetry (2 years of experience)
- Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
- Strong post-operative assessment skills
Preferred Qualifications
- ONS Chemo Provider Card
Schedule
- Self-scheduling
- 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule period
- Holiday rotation
- Standby required
Unit Details
- MedSurg/Ortho unit
- 32 beds
- Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 4:1 on day shift, with 2 to 3 PCTs
- Charge nurse does not take an assignment
- Nurse aides are present on day shift only
- Common patient types include post-op colorectal, urological, bariatric, hepatobiliary, hysterectomy, breast reconstruction, and chemo/oncology patients
- Strong post-op assessment and time management skills are important
- May float to med/surg/tele units
- May need to help with chemo administration on or off the unit
- May need to prep rooms for overflow or double-bunking
Additional Notes
- Navy blue scrubs
- 2 shifts of unit orientation with a preceptor
- CPAP and high-flow equipment are used for palliative care patients only
