Required Qualifications

  • Active RN experience in the specialty
  • 2 years of core experience in the specialty
  • Level 1 trauma experience
  • Teaching hospital experience
  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • Ability to interpret EKGs
  • Ability to titrate drips, including amiodarone, Cardizem, and insulin
  • Cerner experience
  • Must be able to complete the required dysrhythmia exam before acceptance
  • Must be able to complete the day 1 pass/fail exam and SIMs lab
  • Must have natural hair color and no facial piercings
  • Must be able to clean shave for fit test
  • Must have own vehicle if working on a travel team

Experience Notes

  • First-time travelers are welcome
  • 18+ months of experience may be considered
  • Previous travel experience is required for ED and Neuro ICU

Unit Details

  • 32 beds
  • 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
  • Central telemetry monitoring
  • Charge nurse takes a light patient assignment
  • No vents
  • RT available 24/7
  • Pharmacy available 24/7
  • Floating may include Med/Surg Tele units and possibly Westgate or AZ General Laveen

Schedule Details

  • 4 weekend shifts every 4 weeks
  • Holidays depend on unit coverage
  • Shifts run 7:00 to 7:00

  • Trached patients
  • CVA
  • TBI
  • Spinal surgery
  • Encephalopathy
  • ESRD
  • Psych issues
  • Brain tumor

Additional Notes

  • Weekly orientations are held on Mondays except during holiday weeks
  • Cannot work another assignment or contract at the same time
  • Onboarding must be complete by Wednesday at 1:00 PM CST before start
  • This is a fast-paced unit with an average length of stay of 4 to 5 days
