Description
Cambridge Health Alliance is seeking an experienced Director of Pulmonary Services for a 26-week leadership assignment overseeing Respiratory Care and related cardiopulmonary services across the Cambridge, Everett, and Somerville campuses. This opportunity is ideal for a seasoned Respiratory Therapy leader with a strong acute care and critical care background who is passionate about driving clinical excellence, operational efficiency, and quality improvement.
The Director of Pulmonary Services will provide strategic and operational leadership for Respiratory Care, Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT) Lab, Blood Gas Lab, Sleep Lab, and Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation departments. This role is responsible for managing approximately 32 FTEs, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, overseeing departmental budgets, and promoting high-quality patient care across inpatient and outpatient settings.
Schedule:
• Monday – Friday
• 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM (8-hour shifts)
• 40 Guaranteed Hours per Week
• No On-Call Requirement
• 26-Week Assignment (6 Months)
• Start Date: July 6, 2026
Requirements:
• Graduate of an Accredited School of Respiratory Care
• Bachelor's Degree preferred
• Current Massachusetts Respiratory Care License
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Credential Required
• Current AHA BLS Certification
• ACLS Required; NRP Preferred
• Strong background in Acute Care and Critical Care Respiratory Services
• Experience with Pulmonary Function Testing, Blood Gas Accreditation, Sleep Lab, Cardiopulmonary Rehab, and EEG services
• Knowledge of Neonatal Respiratory Care preferred
• Ability to travel between Cambridge, Everett, and Somerville campuses as needed
Key Responsibilities:
• Direct and oversee Respiratory Care, PFT Lab, Blood Gas Lab, Sleep Lab, and Cardiopulmonary Rehab operations
• Lead and manage approximately 32 FTEs across multiple sites
• Ensure compliance with JCAHO, CAP, OSHA, CDC, DPH, and hospital regulatory standards
• Develop and implement departmental policies, procedures, and quality initiatives
• Manage departmental budgets, staffing, and resource allocation
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient care delivery
• Oversee staff development, performance management, and professional growth
• Ensure proper maintenance and operation of cardiopulmonary equipment and services
• Drive patient safety, customer satisfaction, and continuous performance improvement initiatives
