Travel Nursing Job Details
- Job Title: Travel Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN)
- Location: Shelby, NC 28150 (North Carolina travel nursing jobs)
- Facility: 241-bed hospital, Level 3 Trauma Center, Certified Chest Pain & Stroke Center
- Unit: Clinical Decision Unit (24 beds, average census 24)
- Shifts: 12-hour night shifts (18:45–07:15)
- Hours per week: 36
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 10/6/2025 – End: 1/3/2026)
- Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend
- Holiday Expectations: Work 75% of holidays
- Scrub Color: Navy
- Parking: Free on-site parking
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $1570 - $1680
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active RN license (North Carolina or compact state) – required for all travel nurse jobs
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 18 months of recent Med/Surg or Telemetry RN experience
- Proficient in cardiac rhythm interpretation and care of patients with tubes/drains
- Experience with non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem, Amiodarone)
- IV start skills, blood product administration, wound care/dressing changes
- EPIC EMR experience preferred
- Ability to float within the region and scope of practice (Cleveland, Kings Mountain, Lincoln, Central Division)
Med/Surg RN Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality patient care to diverse populations with cardiac, respiratory, neuro, and other medical diagnoses
- Manage a patient ratio of 1:5–6 (may increase during surge staffing)
- Collaborate with CNAs, charge nurses, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, RT, hospitalists, intensivists, and telemetry techs
- Interpret cardiac rhythms and administer non-titrating cardiac drips
- Perform IV starts, wound care, and dressing changes
- Float to other units/facilities within the region as needed
- Participate in facility and unit orientation (2 days departmental)
- Maintain accurate documentation using EPIC EMR
