Travel Nurse Job Details

• Location: Knoxville, TN 37916 (Tennessee nursing jobs)
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: January 12, 2026
• End Date: April 13, 2026
• Shift: 3x12-hour day shifts (07:00 - 19:30)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1880 - $2020
• On-Call: 36 hours every 6 weeks
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend or 2 weekends per month
• Floating: May float to Mother/Baby (Postpartum) unit as needed
• Orientation: 16 hours

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience in a hospital or clinical setting
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee or compact state (must be in hand at time of submission)
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NRP, AWHONN Intermediate, NIHSS
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Experience with Cerner electronic charting system preferred
• Ability to float to Mother/Baby (Postpartum) unit as needed
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
• Certifications and RN licensure must not expire within 45 days of assignment start

Labor & Delivery Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to laboring mothers and newborns in a high-acuity L&D unit (1:2 nurse-patient ratio)
• Assist with vaginal deliveries, C-sections (circulating and recovery), and high-risk deliveries
• Administer medications, blood products, and manage epidural and IV pumps
• Monitor fetal heart rates using external and internal fetal monitoring equipment
• Support breastfeeding and provide lactation education to new mothers
• Perform newborn assessments, APGAR scoring, and provide couplet care
• Educate parents on newborn care, discharge instructions, and car seat safety
• Respond to obstetric emergencies, including postpartum hemorrhage and neonatal resuscitation
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and social services
• Float to Mother/Baby (Postpartum) unit as required to support clinical staffing needs
