Travel Nurse Job Details
- Location: Knoxville, TN 37916 (Tennessee nursing jobs)
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: January 12, 2026
- End Date: April 13, 2026
- Shift: 3x12-hour day shifts (07:00 - 19:30)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $1880 - $2020
- On-Call: 36 hours every 6 weeks
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend or 2 weekends per month
- Floating: May float to Mother/Baby (Postpartum) unit as needed
- Orientation: 16 hours
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience in a hospital or clinical setting
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee or compact state (must be in hand at time of submission)
- Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NRP, AWHONN Intermediate, NIHSS
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Experience with Cerner electronic charting system preferred
- Ability to float to Mother/Baby (Postpartum) unit as needed
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
- Certifications and RN licensure must not expire within 45 days of assignment start
Labor & Delivery Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to laboring mothers and newborns in a high-acuity L&D unit (1:2 nurse-patient ratio)
- Assist with vaginal deliveries, C-sections (circulating and recovery), and high-risk deliveries
- Administer medications, blood products, and manage epidural and IV pumps
- Monitor fetal heart rates using external and internal fetal monitoring equipment
- Support breastfeeding and provide lactation education to new mothers
- Perform newborn assessments, APGAR scoring, and provide couplet care
- Educate parents on newborn care, discharge instructions, and car seat safety
- Respond to obstetric emergencies, including postpartum hemorrhage and neonatal resuscitation
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and social services
- Float to Mother/Baby (Postpartum) unit as required to support clinical staffing needs
