Registered Nurse (RN) - Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
Location: Thornton, Colorado
Employment Type: Travel

Unit Information
- Unit Type: Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
- Number of Beds: 24
- Staffing (Day Shift): Charge nurse, 4-5 RNs, 2-3 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs)
- Staffing (Night Shift): Charge nurse, 4-5 RNs, 2 PCTs
- Patient Ratio: 5:1
- Equipment: Telemetry monitoring, post-op monitoring
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System: Meditech / CPN
Job Description
- Care for post-operative patients including surgical, orthopedic (spine, joint), and cardiac cath lab patients
- Patient population includes elective ortho, spine, gynecological surgeries, post PCI, pacemaker, ablation, cardioversion, re-vascularization, stroke, CIWA, chest pain, renal failure, respiratory failure
- Manage cardiac drips with set rates (non-titrating except heparin)
- Work in a brand new, state-of-the-art unit with ADA/Bari rooms and Hoyer lifts (x2)
- Unit culture emphasizes excellent teamwork, collaboration, and a friendly, outgoing personality fit
- Modified self-scheduling process with schedules posted 3 weeks in advance
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Colorado
- Minimum 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year
- Experience in an Acute Care setting
- Current certifications: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- HHCCA - De-escalation Skills in Healthcare Setting
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Preferred Qualifications
- Cardiac experience
- Prior experience with Meditech EMR system
