Job Overview

• Location: Des Moines, Iowa

Unit Details

• Patient ratio: 1:1
• Bed size: 16
• Average caseload: 35-50 cases per day
• The traveler will float across all campuses.
• Scrubs are provided.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Iowa
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• 2 years of CVOR experience within the last year
• OR circulate experience
• General surgery circulating experience
• Vascular surgery experience
• Thoracic surgery experience
• Open heart scrubbing experience
• Experience working with Level 2 Trauma patients
• Experience with Epic
• One completed travel assignment
• AHA or American Red Cross BLS
• Driver's license

Experience Preferences

• Trauma Level I experience is highly preferred
• Trauma Level II experience is required
• EPIC electronic medical systems experience within the previous 3 years

Scheduling Expectations

• Orientation is approximately 16 hours
• The assignment requires working 1-2 of the 3 upcoming summer holidays unless the unit is closed
• Weekend call runs from end of shift Friday until 6:30 AM Monday
• For the first 6 weeks, RNs will do general call for the department before taking cardiac call

Additional Notes

• Candidates must have completed a travel assignment within the previous 15 months
• Past employees of the health system may be restricted from returning to travel roles under the separation policy
• The unit is staffed 24 hours per day
