Description
Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse
Location: Camden, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Operating Room)
- Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (6:45 AM – 3:15 PM)
- Weekend Requirement: Typically every 4th weekend, with weekday coverage
- On-Call: Yes, weekday call from 3 PM to 7 AM on a rotating basis; not every weekday
- Floating: Required to float within scope to meet facility needs, including sister units/facilities
- Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks

Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in South Carolina
- Minimum 4 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including OR experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background Checks:
- Annual background check within 1 year of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Must include SSN trace, state and national criminal checks, sex offender registry, FACIS 3, and international searches if applicable
- Background check must be run within 90 days of start
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- Education Verification: Required; diploma or transcripts accepted as placeholder if verification pending
- Work History Verification: Last 3 clinical employers verified; attestation letters accepted only if other verification methods exhausted
- References: Proof of 2 clinical references required, including at least one from the same unit
- Employment Application: Must include all PTO, contract assignments, agency names, and no unaccounted gaps
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical Exam: Within 90 days of start, updated annually, confirming ability to meet physical demands without restrictions
- Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start; no instant tests accepted
- Immunizations and Titers:
- Tdap within 10 years or declination form required
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters required if low titer
- Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination required
- TB Testing: Negative T-spot or Q-Gold within 90 days of start; if positive, chest x-ray and annual questionnaire required
- Flu Vaccine: Required during flu season (Aug 1 – Mar 31); medical/religious exemptions accepted but no declinations; documentation must be uploaded by December 5 deadline
- COVID-19 Vaccination: Not required but highly preferred; vaccination records must be uploaded or declination form completed
- Respirator Clearance: Annual medical clearance required via RespSafety virtual questionnaire
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Orientation: Completion of First Day Instructions (FDI) and OurDay modules prior to start; estimated 2-6 hours depending on location
- Photo for Badge: Passport-style color photo with solid light background, frontal view, cropped from shoulders up; no sunglasses or hats
- Job Description: Unit-specific job description must be completed prior to start
- Confidentiality and Security Agreement: Must be completed before starting
- Contractor Forms: Must be completed prior to start
- Radiation Badge: Required for OR RNs; candidates cannot start without it; process may take 5-7 days to receive
- Physical Assessment for Sterile Processors: Not applicable for this RN role (only for Sterile Processing Techs)
Additional Notes
- Local candidates may be considered on a case-by-case basis
- Block scheduling may be requested but is not guaranteed
- Travelers should be aware of potential emergency response assignments during hurricane season (June–November), especially August and September
- All required documents must be submitted and verifications started within 48 hours of contract signing
This position is ideal for experienced OR Registered Nurses with prior travel contract experience, holding the necessary South Carolina licensure and certifications, and able to meet comprehensive health and compliance requirements.
