Job Overview

• Travel/contract RN position in Kansas City, Missouri
• Night shift: 3x12 hours, 6:45 PM–7:15 AM
• 36 hours per week
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• First-time travelers accepted

Unit Details

• Patient ratio: 1:5, with rare flex to 1:6
• Floating may be required between departments, units, and facilities as needed
• Holiday shifts and charge RN assignments may be required
• Weekend requirement: 8 weekend shifts in each 6-week schedule period
• No block scheduling
• No on-call requirement
• RTO limit: no more than 7 days
• Guaranteed hours: 3 shifts per 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Missouri
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• 2 years of nursing experience
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
• Cardiac experience
• Teaching hospital experience
• Telemetry experience
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association

Preferred Qualifications

• Sheath removal
• Ability to titrate cardiac drips
• Ability to titrate vasoactive drips

Clinical Skills and Experience

• MS/Tele, telemetry, cardiac telemetry, and PCU/DOU/IMC/stepdown experience
• Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Rapid response team use
• Post-cardiac angiogram, post-MI, pre/post cardiac cath, and pre/post cardiac surgery care
• IV insulin protocols
• Feeding tube care and management
• Pre/post hemodialysis management
• Port access, blood product administration, central line care, peripheral line care, PICC management, and starting IVs
• Heparin protocols
• Cardiac drips and vasoactive drips
• PCA
• Surgical drains
• Chest tubes, CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, nasal cannula, oxygen masks, non-invasive airway management, and tracheostomy management
• Isolation precautions
• Wound care and wound vac
