PCU RN
Job Overview
- Travel/contract RN position in Kansas City, Missouri
- Night shift: 3x12 hours, 6:45 PM–7:15 AM
- 36 hours per week
- Contract length: 13 weeks
- First-time travelers accepted
Unit Details
- Patient ratio: 1:5, with rare flex to 1:6
- Floating may be required between departments, units, and facilities as needed
- Holiday shifts and charge RN assignments may be required
- Weekend requirement: 8 weekend shifts in each 6-week schedule period
- No block scheduling
- No on-call requirement
- RTO limit: no more than 7 days
- Guaranteed hours: 3 shifts per 13 weeks
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Missouri
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- 2 years of nursing experience
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
- Cardiac experience
- Teaching hospital experience
- Telemetry experience
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association
Preferred Qualifications
- Sheath removal
- Ability to titrate cardiac drips
- Ability to titrate vasoactive drips
Clinical Skills and Experience
- MS/Tele, telemetry, cardiac telemetry, and PCU/DOU/IMC/stepdown experience
- Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Rapid response team use
- Post-cardiac angiogram, post-MI, pre/post cardiac cath, and pre/post cardiac surgery care
- IV insulin protocols
- Feeding tube care and management
- Pre/post hemodialysis management
- Port access, blood product administration, central line care, peripheral line care, PICC management, and starting IVs
- Heparin protocols
- Cardiac drips and vasoactive drips
- PCA
- Surgical drains
- Chest tubes, CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, nasal cannula, oxygen masks, non-invasive airway management, and tracheostomy management
- Isolation precautions
- Wound care and wound vac
