RN - PCU

Location

Schedule

12-hour shifts
Every other weekend required
Holiday support required
36 hours per week
Floating required

Unit Overview

10-bed ICU/PCU overflow unit
Patient ratios: 2:1 for ICU, 4-5:1 for PCU
No unit secretaries or PCTs
Charge nurse is out of staffing

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in North Carolina
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
BLS
ACLS
ICU - Intensive Care Unit experience
Critical care pharmacology including IV sedation, paralytics, and vasopressors
Advanced hemodynamic monitoring
Central line management
Comfort with hemodynamic monitoring
Comfort with ventilator management

Key Skills and Experience

Critical care pharmacology
Advanced hemodynamic monitoring
Central line management
Ability to assist with bedside procedures such as chest tube insertion and intubations
Critical thinking, flexibility, and teamwork

Additional Details

Cerner documentation system
Navy blue or white scrubs required
