Description

PCU Registered Nurse

Location

  • Kansas City, Missouri

Job type

  • Travel/Contract
  • Night shift, 3x12 hours
  • 36 hours per week

Schedule and assignment details

  • 13-week contract
  • Weekend requirement: 8 weekend shifts in each 6-week schedule period
  • Floating may be required between departments, units, and facilities
  • Local candidates are not accepted; home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility
  • No on-call requirement
  • Block scheduling is not available
  • RTO limit: no more than 7 days
  • Guaranteed hours: 3 shifts per 13 weeks

Required qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Missouri
  • PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
  • PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
  • BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
  • NIHSS
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Strong ventilator experience

Clinical focus

  • PCU / stepdown
  • MS/Tele and telemetry monitoring
  • Ventilated trach patients
  • COPD and other pulmonary patients
  • High-acuity respiratory care
  • Endobronchial valves and ventilators

  • Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Cardiac monitoring
  • Feeding tube care and management
  • Pre/post hemodialysis management
  • Blood product administration
  • Central line, PICC, peripheral line, and port access care
  • IV starts
  • Heparin protocols
  • Cardiac drips
  • PCA
  • CVA and traumatic brain injury care
  • Ventilated patient care
  • Chest tube management
  • CPAP/BiPAP and high-flow nasal cannula
  • ABG interpretation
  • Tracheostomy management
