PCU Travel/Contract RN

Overview

• Location: Kansas City, Missouri
• Employment type: Travel/Contract
• Shift: Day, 3x12 hours, 6:45 AM–7:15 PM
• Weekly hours: 36
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Unit type: Intermediate/stepdown-style unit with telemetry-focused patient care
• Patient ratio: 1:5, with rare flex to 1:6
• First-time travelers: Not accepted
• Floating: May be required between departments, units, and facilities
• Weekend requirement: 8 weekend shifts in each 6-week schedule period
• On-call: Not required
• Block scheduling: Not accommodated
• Local candidates: Not accepted; home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility
• RTO limit: No more than 7 days
• Guaranteed hours: 3 shifts per 13 weeks, with cancelled shifts counted at regular shift length

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Missouri
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit (1 year of experience)
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• NIHSS
• Telemetry experience

• 24-bed intermediate unit
• Fast-paced setting supporting medical and surgical overflow
• Common patient needs include telemetry monitoring, cardiac monitoring, IV insulin protocols, wound care, feeding tube care, central line care, and rapid response support

• Insulin drip titration
• Renal failure care
• Ortho trauma
• Total joint replacements
• Surgical drains
• Tracheostomy management
• Eye surgery experience

• Holiday shifts and charge RN assignments may be required
