Travel Cath Lab Technologist Job Details

  • Location: Washington, DC
  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,260–$2,420
  • Assignment Type: 13-week travel contract
  • Start Date: November 2, 2026
  • Schedule: 5 shifts per week, 8-hour daytime shifts
  • Shift Hours: 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m. or 9:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m.
  • Call and Weekend Coverage: No call and no weekends; major holidays are not scheduled
  • Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics
  • Typical Staffing: Approximately 1 technologist to 5 patients
  • Clinical Setting: Diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization laboratory

Cath Lab Technologist Job Requirements

  • At least 2 years of recent Cath Lab Technologist, Cardiac Cath Lab Technologist, or cardiovascular technologist experience, with experience demonstrated within the last 7 years
  • At least 1 previous travel assignment required
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Current ARRT Cardiovascular-Interventional (CI), ARRT Vascular-Interventional (VI), or CCI RCIS credential; ARRT or RCIS will be considered
  • Active District of Columbia license or credential required at the time of submission
  • Demonstrated proficiency with diagnostic adult catheterizations, hemodynamic monitoring, fluoroscopy, sterile technique, and cardiac rhythm recognition
  • Experience with electronic charting systems
  • Two supervisory references required, including one from the most recent assignment
  • Ability to support adult and geriatric patients with diagnoses including coronary artery disease, peripheral vascular disease, and cancer

Cath Lab Technologist Responsibilities

  • Assist with diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures while maintaining a safe, efficient, and sterile environment
  • Scrub and circulate procedures, prepare access sites, set up equipment, stock supplies, and maintain the sterile field
  • Support left- and right-heart catheterizations, angioplasty, stent placement, aortography, pelvic and pulmonary angiography, and upper- and lower-extremity angiography
  • Assist with pacemaker and AICD procedures, including temporary and permanent pacemaker insertion and device programming support
  • Perform accurate hemodynamic monitoring and recognize life-threatening arrhythmias
  • Support peripheral and vascular interventions, including dialysis graft interventions and vascular closure procedures
  • Complete EKG lead placement and collaborate with the interdisciplinary procedural team to promote excellent patient outcomes
  • Follow isolation precautions, use rapid response or code team procedures appropriately, and document care accurately in the electronic chart
