Description
Registered Nurse - OB/GYN (Labor and Delivery)
Location: Carthage, Tennessee
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Weekly Hours: 36 hours guaranteed
Weekend Hours: Every other weekend rotation / as needed
Call Requirements: 3 call shifts (12-hour shifts) per 4-week schedule
Unit & Patient Population
- Units: Labor & Delivery, Nursery, Postpartum
- Beds: 2 labor beds, 3 postpartum beds
- Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 2 patients
- Patient Population: Maternity women and newborns
- Common Diagnoses/Treatments: Labor management and care
- Electronic Health Record (EHR): Meditech
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
- Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
- Experience in OB/GYN, Nursery, and Postpartum care
- Required Certifications (must be obtained prior to start):
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- AWHONN (Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses) certification
- Experience with couplet care (caring for mother and newborn together)
- Must be checked against the Tennessee Abuse Registry prior to assignment start
Skills & Experience
- Must have experience with fetal monitoring and labor support
- Preferred (not required):
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- Experience with Centricity and Meditech EHR systems
- Couplet care experience (caring for mother and newborn together)
Work Environment & Expectations
- Positive attitude, cooperative, and self-initiative are valued personality traits
- Float to other units as needed
- Dress code: Scrubs of any color allowed; casual or other facility apparel not permitted
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be located 60 miles or more from the facility to qualify as travel staff
- Orientation is held weekly on Mondays prior to assignment start
