Friday - Saturday, 7 PM - 7:30 AM EST, with holidays, on call, and callback as per unit needs. On call 2-3 shifts per month.
Job Description
The CT Technologist is responsible for confirming patient identity and exam verification prior to initiating scans while adhering strictly to department policies and procedures to ensure patient safety. This role involves coordinating with physicians to provide diagnostic imaging, preparing patients for scans, inserting IVs as necessary, and positioning patients appropriately, including those with limited mobility. The technologist will maintain accurate patient records using EPIC and ensure images are properly sent to the PACS system after exams.
Responsibilities
- Confirm patient identity and verify exams prior to scans.
- Coordinate with physicians to provide effective diagnostic imaging.
- Prepare patients for scans, explaining procedures to ensure comfort.
- Insert IVs and position patients safely and effectively.
- Maintain accurate patient records in EPIC and ensure proper image documentation.
- Maintain a clean and safe scanning environment.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Current registration as a healthcare professional in NYS with injection therapy certification.
- Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology.
- Certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- NYS licensure (must be obtained prior to starting the position).
- Two years of experience required, specifically in a Level 1 Trauma Center.
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
- Siemens scanner experience preferred, with at least six months of experience.
- Epic experience is highly desired.
