Job Description
The Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing the health status of individuals and groups, establishing nursing diagnoses, identifying and planning goals to meet health care needs, prescribing nursing interventions, implementing the plan of care, and evaluating and documenting responses to interventions. The Birthing Center is a level one low-risk birth unit utilizing single room maternity care. Care is provided incorporating Orem's theory of self-care and the philosophy of family-centered care. Care is administered on inpatient or outpatient status.
Responsibilities
- Provide care to obstetrical patients (antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum), clean female surgical cases, and newborns.
- Perform cesarean births and recover patients in the Birthing Center.
- Administer therapeutic abortions when staffing permits.
Schedule
This position has a shift from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, with 36 hours guaranteed per week.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Minimum of 1 year of current LDRP experience (400+ deliveries a year preferred).
- Experience with cesarean sections, epidurals, electronic charting, and venipuncture proficiency preferred.
- Active Registered Nurse license in the State of Vermont.
- Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Active certifications in Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AFM), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and S.T.A.B.L.E highly preferred.
- Travel experience highly preferred.
