Respiratory Therapist - Night Shift 3x12.0 Hours

Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care, delivering intensive respiratory care and managing patient transport into and out of the facility as medically prescribed. This role operates within the scope of professional licensure with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and recommend treatment plans.
• Explain purpose and procedures of treatments, tests, and equipment to patients and provide necessary education upon discharge.
• Conduct physician-prescribed treatments using various ventilatory equipment and inhalation devices to administer medications, humidification, ventilation, and oxygenation.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning using various methods as per policy.
• Monitor patients' oximetry and capnography and perform routine chest x-ray reviews.
• Carry out pulmonary function studies in accordance with policy.
• Assist with procedures relating to respiratory care such as bronchoscopy, chest tube placement, and tracheostomy care.
• Perform arterial puncture and monitor ventilation efficiency.
• Maintain and operate mechanical ventilation equipment while ensuring its proper functioning.
• Document all pertinent treatment information and communicate efficiently with attending and pulmonary physicians.
• Participate in regular shift-to-shift communication and maintain accurate billing records for respiratory therapy services.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current NJ State Licensure as a Respiratory Therapist.
• Experience in providing respiratory care within a clinical setting.
• Knowledge of and adherence to BLS and ACLS guidelines.

Schedule

This position requires night shifts, with a schedule of 3x12.0 hours per week.
