Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for maintaining the delivery of quality care by following the nursing care plan. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants, ensuring a high standard of patient care and safety throughout the healthcare setting.
Responsibilities
- Conduct nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission to form personalized care plans.
- Identify teaching needs and goals while collaborating with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
- Provide timely updates on patient information and status during team conferences.
- Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and promptly in medical records.
- Participate in the patient rehabilitation program and prioritize patient education based on identified healthcare needs.
- Initiate discharge planning and patient teaching from the day of admission.
- Communicate significant changes in patient status to ensure continuity of care.
- Supervise and train ancillary nursing personnel effectively.
- Promote personal and environmental safety in accordance with nursing policies.
- Engage in team-building efforts to foster a positive work environment.
- Identify and act on professional development opportunities through continuing education.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Current RN licensure required.
- BLS certification required prior to first shift.
- ACLS certification required prior to first shift (specific to certain facilities).
- Minimum of two (2) years of bedside clinical experience is highly desired.
