Job Description
The Cat Scan Technologist performs computer tomography procedures and related techniques, producing sectional and three-dimensional images for interpretation and assisting with interventional and therapeutic procedures.
Responsibilities
- Perform complex CT procedures using professional judgment.
- Review and obtain patient clinical history, ensuring documentation is scanned into PACS.
- Prepare, screen, and review the accuracy of the contrast questionnaire with patients.
- Identify and administer contrast media as prescribed.
- Verify appropriateness of exams and communicate with Radiologists as needed.
- Call physicians to clarify prescriptions according to CT protocols.
- Verify insurance authorized exam scripts and facilitate re-verification.
- Obtain outside studies and schedule them in EPIC.
- Provide exam copies to patients and requesting physicians.
- Evaluate radiographs for diagnostic value using PACS.
- Prep patients for scanning, including shielding and immobilization.
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions during procedures.
Required Experience
- At least 2 years of CT experience required (5 years preferred).
- Experience with GE equipment, Epic EMR, and Fuji PACS is required.
- Ability to work in a busy ED and maintain workflow is essential.
- Must be willing to work in dual modalities (X-ray & CT).
