Clinical Unit Educator (Nursing) designs, implements, and evaluates unit-based clinical education programs. This role integrates clinical expertise with adult learning principles to support competency development, patient safety, and performance improvement. The Clinical Unit Educator provides direct patient care, supports unit operations, and partners with leadership to align education strategies with organizational goals, regulatory requirements, and evidence-based practice

What you will do

• Design, develop, and implement unit-based education programs, including orientation, competency validation, and ongoing staff development
• Evaluate effectiveness of educational programs through outcomes measurement, competency assessment, and performance improvement data
• Provide direct patient care while serving as a clinical resource to support high-acuity nursing practice
• Collaborate with unit leadership to identify learning needs, competency gaps, and performance improvement opportunities
• Lead and coordinate orientation programs, including preceptor selection, development, and evaluation of orientee progress
• Support implementation of new policies, procedures, equipment, and organizational initiatives through targeted education
• Facilitate bedside coaching, re-education, and competency validation to ensure safe and effective patient care delivery
• Serve as liaison between academic partners, students, and clinical staff to support clinical education experiences
• Participate in regulatory readiness, accreditation activities, and compliance with mandatory education requirements
• Contribute to unit-based and organizational performance improvement initiatives, including quality, safety, and patient outcomes

Education Qualifications

• Nursing

Licenses and Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS)

Experience Qualifications

• Minimum three (3) years of relevant clinical nursing experience

Skills and Abilities

• Advanced knowledge of nursing practice standards, clinical protocols, and evidence-based care in high-acuity settings
• Knowledge of adult learning theory, instructional design, and competency-based education methodologies
• Ability to develop measurable learning objectives, competency tools, and evaluation frameworks
• Proficiency in clinical assessment, critical thinking, and application of nursing judgment in complex patient care scenarios
• Knowledge of regulatory and accreditation standards, including competency validation and mandatory education requirements
• Skill in analyzing performance data to identify gaps and drive targeted education interventions
• Proficiency in learning management systems, electronic health records, and clinical documentation systems
• Knowledge of quality improvement methodologies and performance improvement frameworks
• Ability to integrate clinical, operational, and educational priorities in a fast-paced trauma environment
• Strong facilitation and coaching skills to support competency development and clinical excellence
